The origins of the Hot Toddy can vary, but for today we’ll go with its Irish origins. According to the Irish origin story, it was believed that a man named Robert Bently Todd, an Irish doctor, invented this drink as a way to ward off any illnesses that might ail his patients. Todd’s original recipe consisted of hot whiskey, cinnamon, and sugar water. Since the first record of the Hot Toddy the recipe has changed based upon the region and the drinker. Today’s version utilizes our Irish Breakfast tea, which we have steeped in Jameson Irish whiskey for added flavor.
